Things to do in Vejer de la Frontera

Wander around the old town

One of the nicest parts in Vejer is the old town. The itinerary starts from La Corredera, one of the most beautiful walks and the closest to the parking. From La Corredera you can enjoy breathtaking views of Medina Sidonia and surrounding valleys.

The next point will be Plaza España, walking through Arco de Sancho VI towards Casa del Mayorazgo. From here you will get some of the best views of the old town. Then, follow the steps that lead to Plaza de España.

Once you arrive at Plaza de España, you will see the city town and the Fuente de Los Pescaitos, the fish fountain, made of Seville tile. One of the streets that lead to Plaza de España is Calle Silla Viejas, one of the most charming streets in Vejer de la Frontera. Don’t miss the chance to take a photo here.

The walk continues from Puerta de la Villa, towards Calle José Castrillón. Walk all the way up or, if you rather see some nice streets, walk through Calle Eduardo Shelly and then take the first street to the right called Calle Badillo. Keep walking in direction to the Arco de Segur. This arch used to serve as the main entrance of Vejer de la Frontera.

Take the stairs on your left, leading to the Iglesia Parroquial del Divino Salvador an old church built over an old mosque.

Taking the street Ramón y Cajal all the way down, you will find the Convent of the Conceptionist nuns and Vejer Castle.

To finalise the walk, get through the arch Arco de Puerta Cerrada to access some of the most beautiful views in Vejer de la Frontera. There you will also find the famous statue, La Cobijada.

You cannot visit Spain, and miss this one out.
